FAQ

What Can I do in Bruges?

Of course the very best thing, is the balloon flight over the historic center. But we suggest some alternative fun things to do in Bruges after your flight, or in case weather didn’t permit you to go up.

1) Bike rides; you can rent bicycles in a lot of different places. Go for a guided tour that takes you outside the city walls. That way you’ll enjoy the real Flemish landscape.

2) Eat: there are a lot of good restaurants in Bruges, and unfortunately also some less tasty places. Du Phare is not overpriced and one of our favourites. Some restaurants around the market square are to be avoided if the food is more important than the view for you!

3) Walk a lot! Everything in Bruges is easily walkable, the city is very small.

You can easily plan your visit to Bruges here on Kayak for hotel reservations.

Why should we go ballooning in Bruges, when we can go on a balloon flight in Africa or Turkey?

Belgium is one of the busiest hot air balloon countries in the world, not without reason. The diversity in landscapes is enormous. Views change from city centers to farmer’s fields in a few minutes. But especially around Bruges, where more than 100 castles surround this magical city, you get to see polder landscapes, the North Sea, the Dutch border (some of our balloon flights even end in Holland), woods, little villages and nature areas.

Is weather in Brugge (Bruges) suitable for outdoor activities like balloon flights?

Very much, the geographical situation of Brugge, close to the North Sea, makes that there are generally less clouds, less showers and more sun than in the rest of Belgium.

What are the main things to see in Brugge, from the balloon?

First of all we cross the city, with all its canals, churches, bridges and towers. After that, it’s time to relax to the view of farms, cows and horses and farmer’s fields, in a mixture with many small villages that are so typically for this Flemish landscape. Around Bruges, there also a lot of medieval and more modern castles. On every flight, we do get to see at least a few of those castles, sometimes 10 or 20 !

Do you do group activities?

Yes, we have capacity for 60 persons every day. There are special group rates and we do custom made trips with special treats after landing, like cheese-fondue in very field where we have landed in.
